Select your front wing with numbers, not guesswork.

Pump foil front wings

Pick two or three front wings and your weight, and compare take-off, best glide and stall. Same fuselage, same stabiliser, same mast: the difference comes from the front wing.

Weight carried versus speed Two curves per front wing: cruise speed (solid) and stall speed (dotted) against lift. Follow the vertical line at your weight: where it crosses each curve, you read the cruise and stall speeds. Hover or tap the chart to read the values.
      Legend
      Year
Model year published by the brand or a retailer. "≈ 2025": the brand publishes no model year, so the year is estimated from the model's release date (product page going live, announcement, launch video). The Year filter shows the last three years by default.
      Price
Public price of the front wing alone, in euros, taken from the brand's website in October 2026, excluding any discount. An asterisk (*) marks a price taken from a European retailer when the brand does not sell in euros (Armstrong in dollars, Indiana in Swiss francs). The price links to the page where it was found.
      Area
Front wing area published by the brand, in cm². At equal weight, the larger it is, the earlier the wing takes off and the better it lifts at low speed, but the more it drags at high speed.
      Span
Width of the front wing from tip to tip. The longer it is, the more stable the wing and the further it glides, but the slower it banks and the more easily a tip breaks the surface in tight turns.
      Aspect ratio
Span² ÷ area, recomputed from these two figures so that every brand is compared the same way. A long, narrow wing (12 and above) glides better and pumps further; a short, wide wing (6 to 8) is more nimble and playful.
      Max chord and max thickness
Section width at the centre of the wing and its maximum thickness, in mm, as published by the brand ("—" when not given). A thick section lifts better at low speed and stalls gently; a thin one is faster but stalls more abruptly. Their ratio (thickness ÷ chord) sets the maximum lift coefficient used in the calculations.
      Carving index
Agility in turns, score from 0 (very stable) to 10 (very playful), computed from span (a short wing banks quickly and rarely ventilates in tight turns) and aspect ratio (low = playful, high = glide). It ignores sweep, anhedral and the section.
      Estimated take-off
Speed at which the wing carries your weight and your gear using 90 % of its maximum lift: the foil is pitched up, with a little margin left before the stall.
      Comfortable speed range
From the speed where the required lift coefficient is 0.7 (below it you must pitch up and work) to the speed where it is 0.5 (relaxed cruise). The window where the wing carries you effortlessly for your weight.
      Best-glide speed
Speed at which the wing drags least while carrying your weight: where it glides furthest for the least effort.
      Stall speed
Below this speed, even fully pitched up, the wing no longer carries your weight and drops.
Power needed at best glide speed
What the rider must produce to hold the best-glide speed: total drag (lift, wing friction, mast, fuselage and stab) times speed, divided by pumping efficiency (60 %). When shown, the runner equivalent is the speed a 75 kg runner would hold on the flat at the same power (0.3 W per kg per km/h), with the pace in minutes per mile. Order of magnitude within ±20 %; comparing two wings is more reliable than the absolute figure.
      Weight used
All calculations use your weight, set with the slider, plus the gear weight shown under the table (board, mast, fuselage, stab, and the wing in wingfoil), in sea water.
      About this comparator

Foil comparator: pump foil front wings

Select Your Foil is a free, independent foil comparator. It compares front wings from the main brands (AFS, Alpinefoil, Armstrong, Axis, Duotone, F-One, Gong, Indiana, Ketos, North, Sabfoil, Sroka, Takoon) using their published dimensions: area, span, aspect ratio and section thickness. For your weight and speed it computes take-off speed, comfortable flight range, stall speed, the power needed to pump and a carving index, with each wing's public price.

Which front wing for pump foiling?

A bigger wing takes off earlier and carries you at low speed, which helps dock starts and pumping. A high aspect ratio glides and pumps further; a short, wide wing turns more easily. Pick two or three wings, set your weight and speed, and compare.

Where do the numbers come from?

Specifications come from the brands' websites (source link on each wing). Calculations follow finite-wing lift theory: they are estimates and do not replace trying the gear.
